Career Development Programme
At Mentor Point Youth (MPY), we understand that a key part of empowering young people is helping them build successful, fulfilling careers. Our Career Development Programme is designed to achieve just that, offering not only practical training but also the inspiration and guidance needed for young people to pursue their goals with confidence and determination.
Motivational Speakers
Every three months, we hold dynamic workshops and training sessions at our dedicated centres. These quarterly sessions are led by motivational speakers who are often professionals with first-hand experience of overcoming challenges similar to those faced by the young people in our communities. These speakers share their personal journeys of resilience and achievement, inspiring hope and igniting motivation. Their message is clear: no matter the obstacles, every young person has the potential to succeed with the right support and mindset.
Career Counsellors
In addition to motivational speakers, our career counsellors offer both one-on-one and group coaching. These counsellors are trained to help young people discover their passions and align them with career opportunities that suit their skills and interests. During each session, participants learn how to:
Identify Strengths: Through assessments and personalised coaching, young people are encouraged to discover their unique talents and abilities. This understanding forms the foundation for building a career that is both satisfying and aligned with their natural strengths.
Set Achievable Goals: Our career counsellors work with each participant to set realistic, actionable career goals. Whether aiming for higher education, vocational training, or entering the workforce, the focus is always on clear, attainable milestones.
Develop Professional Skills: The programme includes essential training in soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership. These are critical to success in any career but are often overlooked in formal education.
Job Readiness: Participants receive practical training in key job application skills. From creating strong CVs and cover letters to mastering interview techniques, our Career Development Programme ensures that every young person is fully prepared for the job market.
Networking Opportunities: We invite professionals from various industries to participate, providing invaluable networking opportunities. These connections help bridge the gap between aspirations and real-world opportunities, especially for young people who may not have access to established professional networks.
